I am a Climate Scientist, an Associate Professor at the Climate Change Research Centre, at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), and a Chief Investigator at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate Extremes.

My research is on climate variability, ocean-atmosphere interaction, and large-scale atmospheric teleconnections. I am interested in how the tropical oceans affect regional climate and how they will change in a warming climate. My work aims to understand the physical processes by which climate drivers,  such as the El Niño – Southern Oscillation, affect the atmospheric circulation, precipitation, and extremes such as floods and droughts in the present, past, and future climate.
